The next version is an ongoing project, though on slow burner at the moment unbtil my Space helmet is done.

No one really nails something like this on the first try, though I really liked how it turned out there are always details you miss and things you could do differently. :)

I've printed most parts for a new version that has a full array of leds on the ball claw, removing the pushbutton for firing. It has a non-light-up barrel and the on/off is set at the top middle of the handle where screenshots show a hole for a slim pin button.
This means that the tri-connector fork at the back end can be set as tight as on the original hero prop instead of hiding a sliding on/off as I'd used on my first Dalek Gun.

The Barrel is thinner coresponding to screenshots of the real prop and the side tubes will be made of metal to make them far less brittle.

Pictures will be added soon.

Dalek Gun prop

This blog is about a finished project from a couple of years ago where I made a Dalek Gun prop from the new series Doctor Who Episode Witch's Familiar.

Peter Capaldi as Doctor Who in the episode "Witches' Familiar"

Finished gun firing, barrel lights up similar to a lightsaber prop

Gun on standby with led lights on, above left, disassembly of front half for transportation and access to the flashlight for the barrel is shown

Screencaps from Witch's Familiar

The Doctor holding the Dalek Gun down while Missy is trying to trick him into shooting a very special Dalek.
The tabs and LEDs with hole-locking collars (a common standard for modern LED mounting) are visible here, though the LEDs at their centre aren't lit for some reason.
The tri-pronged coupling at the back end is also visible, as is one of the two 45 degree forking cable outlets.

Missy (played by Michelle Gomez) shooting open a door. The array of LEDs at the back of the ball joint is fully visible

After modeling here's my 3D model assembly rendered

Parts printed and test assembled with wiring for LEDs and flashlight to light up the barrel when firing.

Airbrushing acrylic silver paint

After this the wiring and lights were installed, then some minor weathering and it was done!
